As with the institutions of regular families in Africa, the constituent members of the father, mother, and children have become the mainstay, relative to the extended family system that was the case in years past. Previously, men were the sole bread winners of the home, and had to completely fend for the family.

But as time has changed, the empowerment of women to achieve higher status that has been deprived them in the past, and with the rigors of economic hardships, women have risen to become equal partners and help their men spouses with the daily upkeep of the home. In some instances, women seem to actually shoulder the entire burden when the men are found wanting and oblivious of their responsibility.

So on the basis of the paradigm shift in the family setup, should women cook? Especially when it comes to female artistes and celebrities? Should it be a shared responsibility? Should cultural settings influence the family structure?
